​Michigan

I grew up in Michigan, and for decades my family and I have spent a chunk of our summers in Leelanau County (in the "little finger" of the mitten that is Michigan's lower peninsula.) During the past couple of years, I started to take inspiration from those beloved surroundings for a series of 12" x 12" paintings on canvas boards. These experiments are abstract interpretations of the scenery and environment that's been a huge part of my life for more than half a century. Some of them represent specific spots on the Leelanau peninsula; others capture my hazy but deeply ingrained memories of moments and places from long ago.
